How RUT works – step by step
- You give us your Swedish personnummer when booking.
- We report the labor cost to Skatteverket after the move.
- You are invoiced the net amount – 50% off the labor portion.
- Skatteverket reimburses us the other 50% directly. You do nothing extra.
- The deduction shows up as a line on your yearly tax return (deklaration).

FAQ
- What is the RUT deduction?
- RUT (Rengöring, Underhåll, Tvätt) is a Swedish tax deduction covering 50% of the labor cost for household services like moving, packing and cleaning. In 2026 the cap is SEK 75,000 per person per year.
- Am I eligible for RUT as an expat?
- Yes, if you are tax-registered in Sweden (have a personnummer, receive a Swedish salary and pay Swedish income tax). The deduction is automatic – we invoice the net amount.
- What is not covered by RUT?
- Material costs (boxes, tape, wrapping), storage fees, waste disposal and long-distance transport outside Sweden. Only labor within Sweden qualifies.
- Can two adults combine their RUT?
- Yes. If both partners are registered at the same address you can share up to SEK 150,000 combined per year.
